Artist work studios @50 Pearl
Open most Saturdays, weekdays by chance and ALWAYS by appointment!
The artist work studios at 50 Pearl are home to six local artists whose works are as individual as the artists who create them! Current artists include Melanie Chartier, Carole Ann Danner, Jenny Fragosa, Sandra Ginnis and Molly Driscoll.
Art mediums include printmaking, oils, encaustics and ceramics.
The artists host open studios and other events
throughout the year. This July and August, the artists will host open studios every Thursday, complete with interesting entertaiment and refreshments.
The artist work studios @ 50 Pearl are located on the campus of the Shirley Blair Flynn Center for the Creative Arts located at the corner of Pearl and South Streets in Hyannis providing artist living, work and gallery space. The campus includes the historic Guyer Art Barn, artist in residence Sarah Holl’s ArtSpace and artist work studios.
Pearl Street is located between bustling Main Street and the harbor front and is adjacent to the future site of the new regional performing arts center.
This 2,111 square foot building was constructed in 1830 as a residential home and has a rich history as a gathering place for local artists. Playwrights and poets congregated at the home for lively readings, and nautical-themed original Vernon B. Coleman murals decorate the basement walls.

The Town purchased 50 Pearl in 2007 and completed extensive renovations to the building, including making it handicapped accessible. The year round work studio spaces range in size from 150 to 230 square feet, with a shared kitchen area, handicapped accessible bath and storage space. Each unit offers wood floors, windows, free designated parking, wheelchair accessibility, 24 hour access, keyed doors, new outlets and separate switches for new adjustable track lighting. 220 power is available for electric kilns if desired. There is also a seasonal potting studio in the former detached garage on the property. Generous funding for the acquisition and renovation of these properties into artist live / workspace was received from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Program, the Community Preservation Committee, and the Lyndon P. LoRusso Foundation.
