July 17 - August 1: Jackie Reeves.  Artist reception, July 23, 7-9PM

In her art she explores her identity as a woman, mother, wife, sister, daughter and artist through various mediums including charcoal, paint and collage. In her recent works, Jackie Reeves achieves rich and complex imagery with a deft combination of drawing, painting and collage. Multiple figures twine and weave through these compositions, sensuous and evocative, with apparent allusions to the stages and rituals of womanhood. Washes and glazes enhance the images of overlapping and integrated figures. In many of these, it is uncertain whether a group is made of many persons or an individual is subsumed by the whole. Throughout all of them, the viewer is treated to an intriguing and rewarding visual experience.

Currently Ms. Reeves is devoting her career to developing new work at: CHALKBOARD Studio in Barnstable Village, which she shares with artists Richard Neal and James Wolf. She is also furthering her studies in fine art and will begin graduate school in the fall in Massart’s MFA program at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.

Jackie Reeves has worked in the commercial art field since graduating from Concordia University, Montreal with a BFA in Design Art in 1990. Her work has primarily involved mural painting however she is continually involved in community arts around Cape Cod and the South Shore. Originally from Montreal Jackie now lives in Sandwich with her husband and three daughters
