Friday March 13th, May 1st, September 18th and October 16th, 2015 All day and possible overnights, Halfway House, Sandy Neck Beach
SANDY NECK BEACH
In the quiet of Sandy Neck Beach, a Halfway House cottage stands in the middle of the dunes, marsh and water. It provides solitude, beautiful scenic landscapes and a chance to escape everday life as we know it.
The Town of Barnstable, in partnership with the Cape Cod Art Association, is offering day and overnight excursions to this beautiful landscape. For people who enjoy camping, the overnight excursion inlcudes shelter, outhouse, picnic table and grill.
For those who can’t do without the creature comforts, it is a place to be from sunrise to sunset to create, have a picnic and immerse yourself in the great outdoors.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This experience is for the plein air painter, photographer, musician, writer or anyone who craves some time to create without the everyday interruptions of life.
WHEN CAN I GO?
If you want to visit for just a day, you will be transported by the Sandy Neck Ranger for the 3.5 mile drive through the dunes to the Halfway House. Trips are planned for early and late spring and then again in September and October as the colors in the marsh are heightened by the sun.
Trips head out for 9AM and you can stay until well after sunset. For the overnight excursions, a early morning sunrise is not to be missed!
If you want to be a little more adventurous, then the overnight experience might be right for you. Bring your sleeping bag, camping gear and food and prepare to spend time surrounded by natural beauty.
There is a basic application and fee, with all funds directly supporting the Halfway House.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an application and additional information.
